Q: Why doesn't the application I just installed show up in the OneTouch 4.0 destination list?

A: We suggest that before you use the scanner button or OneTouch icons, you check each configuration. If your application does not show in the Destination list, please click "Refresh", then adjust any settings needed and click "Apply" and "OK".

Q: I've checked on the Straighten feature in my scanner. Why is the bottom corner cut off of my image?

A: When using the Straighten feature, if a document scans in at too great of an angle, part of the image may not scan correctly. Please re-scan using the paper guides.

Q: Why am I getting blank pages or images with lines in my scans when I use AutoCrop?

A: Sometimes if a paper is scanned in without using the paper guides, it can scan in crookedly and be misread by the AutoCrop function. Please re-scan your items while using your scanner’s paper guides.

Q: I am scanning Duplex with AutoCrop turned on. Why does one side crop properly, but the other side does not?

A: The AutoCrop function will crop to the larger of the two sides, and will use that crop size for both sides.

Q: Why does my scanner not function after performing a system restore on Windows XP?

A: This solution will only work on Windows XP.

  1. Open the Control Panel and double click on Add or Remove Programs.
  2. Select OneTouch 4.0
  3. Click on the "Click here for support information" link.
  4. Click on the Repair button.

Q: I tried to 'Repair' the OneTouch 4.0 application by using the 'Change' function through the Add/Remove Program within the Control Panel and was not able to repair it. How do I repair OneTouch 4.0?

A: Before attempting to repair OneTouch 4.0, unplug the USB cable connected to the scanner.

  1. Perform the Change/Repair function again. If you are asked for the Install CD, insert Disc 1 into the CD-ROM player and click OK.
  2. When prompted, plug the USB cable back into the scanner.
  3. When the installation process finishes, click OK on the Complete The Installation window, and then click Close.
  4. Reboot your computer.

Q: Why did I receive an "Out of Memory" error while scanning?

A: If you are scanning 24bit color at a high dpi you may receive an out of memory error. This is a normal condition since you are transferring large amounts of data. Make sure there are no other applications running and add more RAM if possible. 256MB is required, but 512MB or more is recommended.

Q: What recommendations do you have for using PaperPort?

A: When you are using PaperPort directly to scan documents or photos, please use the TWAIN interface. You can also use OneTouch 4.0 to place images directly into the PaperPort desktop.

Q: When I'm scanning using ISIS, how do I transfer the scanned images to the application?

A: The ISIS user interface will remain open after the scan has completed. To transfer the images to your application, simply click the "Done" button. (This will both close the ISIS user interface and transfer the images.)

Q: After rebooting my computer, the CD front end is automatically displayed, but when I try to install the scanner driver, I get an error message which reads,

This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to confirm that this is a valid Windows Installer package.
What do I do?

A: Exit out of the installer by pressing the "MAIN MENU" link, then the "EXIT" link. Eject the CD from your CD-ROM drive, then put it back in again; once the installer has restarted, proceed normally.

XEROX scanners are sensitive electronic devices. Static electricity can damage the components inside the scanner if precautions are not taken. Do not touch the HOST terminal on the back of the scanner with your finger or any other object while the power is on.
