XEROX DOCUMATE SCANNERS AND AXIS NETWORK DOCUMENT SERVER CREATE COMPLETE NETWORK SOLUTION FOR DOCUMENT DISTRIBUTIONInstantly Send Digitized Documents Over IP Networks With OneTouch™ Technology SAN JOSE, Calif. – Nov. 7, 2006 – Five scanners in the Xerox DocuMate scanner family have now been certified and approved to use with the AXIS 70U Network Document Server. The certifications, announced today at the ECM West Conference and Exhibition, allows people to connect a Xerox DocuMate scanner with an AXIS 70U Network Document Server and create a completely secure solution to scan documents and instantly e-mail them to any number of recipients. The AXIS 70U connects to IP networks without the need for a PC or additional software. Scanned documents can be distributed as e-mail attachments in standard PDF format, delivering high image quality and making document distribution quick, easy and safe. Xerox scanners that have been certified to use with the Axis network document server include the Xerox DocuMate 632, XeroxDocuMate 250, XeroxDocuMate 252, XeroxDocuMate 510 and XeroxDocuMate 520. "Network scanning is generating a lot of interest in the imaging market, and we are very pleased to have this relationship with Axis Communications and be able to deliver our customers yet another great solution for their document distribution needs," said John Dexter, director of business development at Visioneer, Inc., a Xerox licensing partner. "A Xerox DocuMate scanner combined with an AXIS 70U creates a valuable tool for document distribution in any medium to large sized paper-intensive company that regularly uses a fax for distribution of documents." Diversified Specialty Institutes, Inc., a healthcare company that was formed to acquire, develop, and operate hospitals, imaging centers and dialysis/renal centers has recently replaced its previous scanning solution with the Xerox DocuMate 632 and AXIS 70U. "By doing this, our employees have cut their scanning time literally in half,"said Lance Perkins, implementation manager at, Diversified Specialty Institutes. "This will allow our employees to spend more time on patient care, since that is what our primary focus should be." The Xerox DocuMate 632 scans 70 images per minute and was designed specifically for departmental use. It incorporates Visioneer OneTouch™ technology for eliminating multiple steps in sending scanned documents to predetermined applications or devices. It is the only scanner that can be programmed to automatically scan up to 99 different destinations and be customized for each person in the department. The Xerox DocuMate 632 has an 8.5"x 14" flatbed that can accommodate documents up to legal size, an optical resolution of 600 x 1200 dpi, 48-bit internal color, a hi-speed USB 2.0 interface (USB 1.1 compatible), and a suite of bundled software applications and utilities. These include TWAIN and ISIS® certified drivers, Kofax VRS software, and Scansoft OmniPage Pro. This software bundle allows users to greatly enhance image quality and automatically scan to image-over-text searchable PDF. How Do Network Document Servers Work? Network document servers provide a secure way to easily distribute and archive paper-based documents by e-mailing them using the existing corporate IP network. New regulatory compliance requirements have dramatically increased the need for companies to implement secure and reliable document management and capture solutions. The AXIS network document server is connected as a node in an Ethernet/Fast Ethernet network, enabling scanners to be accessed via standard protocols such as SMTP for sending e-mails. Using the document server is easy: just insert a document into the Xerox DocuMate scanner, select any number of recipients from the distribution list on the network document server's message display, and press "Send" on the control panel. The scanned document will immediately be delivered without any additional distribution costs.
