FADGI Compliant Scanners
From Setup to Compliance: Xerox® Scanners Make FADGI Easy
Pre-shipment calibration, independent testing by one of the industry’s most trusted evaluation bodies, and remote support ensure your Xerox® scanner meets FADGI requirements from the moment it arrives and for every scan that follows.
What is FADGI?
The Federal Agencies Digital Guidelines Initiative (FADGI) is a joint effort among U.S. Federal government agencies that began in 2007. FADGI develops shared standards and practices for managing both digitized and natively digital materials.
Why are FADGI-compliant documents important?
Transitioning Federal agencies to a paperless environment is a top priority for the U.S. Government. Starting July 1st, 2024, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) stopped accepting analog documents. Now, only electronic records that meet FADGI image quality standards are accepted. Other agencies are expected to begin requiring FADGI-compliant records, and private-sector organizations are increasingly adopting FADGI standards to meet industry benchmarks.
How are FADGI-compliant records rated?
FADGI developed a rating system designed to accommodate a broad spectrum of digitization needs. These include modern records management, cultural and heritage preservation, and audio/visual content production.
FADGI ratings are awarded based on performance in tonal response, color accuracy, resolution, sharpness, and geometric distortion. The ratings use a four-tier star scale, along with an additional category called “MTR”:

Xerox® FADGI-compliant scanners
Not all scanners are created equal. A scanner that appears to produce crisp, legible images may still fail a FADGI evaluation due to subtle color shifts, tonal compression, or geometric distortion that are invisible to the naked eye. That’s a risk our two FADGI-compliant Xerox scanners — the Xerox® D70n and the Xerox® W130 — are built to eliminate.
How do we ensure your Xerox® Scanner is FADGI-compliant?
To ensure every device meets FADGI standards from day one, each unit is professionally calibrated and tested in our labs prior to shipment. Depending on the model and selected bundle, you can receive up to 10 remote calibrations per year to ensure your scanner remains compliant.
Don’t just take our word for it.
Both the Xerox® D70n and the Xerox® W130 were independently tested and certified by Keypoint Intelligence, one of the industry’s most trusted evaluation bodies, confirming their FADGI compliance.
